| LEXINGTON – Many latinos took advantage of having her blood pressure checked during the Health Fair, organized by the medical students of the University of Kentucky. Every year, hundreds of Latinos come to the fair to obtain medical and dental services.
Latinos: Disproportionately Uninsured
• Nationwide, Latinos are over three times as likely as
non-Latino whites to be uninsured.
• There are 11 million Latinos living in the United
States who do not have health insurance coverage
(32.7% of the total Latino population).
• Latinos in 2009 comprised 13% of the population but accounted
for 29% of uninsured residents and 36% of uninsured children younger
than age 18.
