ICE detained 12 last weekend-
Information obtained by this newspaper indicate that 12 people were arrested last Friday the 18th and Saturday 19 of May in two different liquor stores by ICE agents in Lexington.
Agents at the cash registers at the liquor stores solicited identification to the customers that failed to present valid Kentucky ID’s while trying to buy beer or liquor. Agents then proceed to detained the individuals, even though in many cases they had presented valid Consular ID’s (this documents alone does not prove a valid immigration status).
It seems ICE very carefully selected both liquor stores because both had in common a high number of Latino customers in areas where there is a high Latino population. One was located in Russell Cave and the other in Versailles Road.
La Voz also received information that several of the detained were already out of the detention center.
